Top 5 places to eat in London

op 5 places to eat in london

Here’s a quick list of Top 5 places to eat in London, certainly there are many more but these are must try!

Top 5 places to eat in London

1-      Barrafina: First opened on Frith Street, it was a quaint place without the notion of even reservations having been introduced. Its prolific twin on Adelaide Street, however, being larger and a little more glam presents itself as an instant attraction to the eye coupled with, of course, the hard to miss line of people waiting to get in. The menu favors a delightful variety of Mexican Tapas, tortilla, croquetas and jamón, then doing a complete 180 it covers Josper-grilled meats, Barrafina’s signature fresh sea food and deep fried lamb’s brain; mouth-water yet? To give it a hefty conclusion it even includes a private swish dining room taking up the basement; incase the patience to wait in line becomes scarce. So, stop reading and get in line!

2-      Counter Culture: The hip and casual place is a go-to if you’re in need of achingly good but completely affordable food. Raucous guitars and lazy vocals set the mood, this combined with the staff who are charming, with a contagiousness to their excitement, should be enough to seal the deal, but undoubtedly it’s the cooking (contemporary European, but including ingredients that come from every part of the world) that keeps you coming back. Their nduja with cultured cream and sour potato flat bread is like a cherry on the pie and a $4 you will not regret spending. There’s really nothing not to love.

3-      The Barbary: Menu including old recipes from across North Africa and the Middle East that have large influences over Israeli’s cookbooks, renewed so they can run with the times.  Whether it’s the best in London grilled charred octopus or the flavor rich naan bread from the tandoor, the food makes you wish you had a larger appetite. A hazy room greets you as you enter, conspiring of beautiful music and people; an atmosphere that makes you abandon any hurry to leave.

4-      Som Saa: Opened in April 2016, Som Saa hit the streets with a delightfully fiery Thai food menu steps away from Liverpool Street. Their most sought after dish, the traditional seabass, which is completely fried is an otherworldly combination made with skin roasted with rice batter, fine flesh, and pleasant smelling Thai herbs which are essentially North-Eastern. For dessert, one only needs to ask the amiable staff for the palm sugar ice cream containing unripe banana and after having it, your ecstatic satisfaction (if not more) is guaranteed. The cooking comes from two non-Thais (ex-masterchef winner Andy Oliver is from Britain, Mark Dobbie is an Australian) which might make some people wary, however, the spices and the flavors are as authentic to their origin as it gets, leaving no room for disappointment.

5-      Hoppers: The restaurant has an immediate Soho vibe, always bustling and busy with customers. You dine in small plates, lavished with flavor-rich food spiced to your heart’s content. The bone marrow varuval (bone marrow curry which can be smeared over a buttery roti), plain hoppers and any of the curries are to me, the specials, however to choose from the range of dishes was anything but an easy task. The curries were so splendidly cooked that I would highly suggest anyone who goes there to order a curry in favor of any extra chutneys.
